Open Streets PGH

OpenStreetsPGH is Pittsburgh’s fastest growing free event series that closes miles of streets to cars and opens them up to people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, and recreate.

There is something for everyone at OpenStreetsPGH – fitness workshops, kids activities, shopping, brunch, community arts, and special promotions presented by more than 100 local businesses and organizations.

In 2018, BikePGH held three free OpenStreetsPGH events. The event series had an impressive record-breaking year attracting more than 113,000 total participants throughout 10 Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

In July, BikePGH unveiled a brand new OpenStreetsPGH route, transforming the East End to a car-free wonderland, giving more community members the opportunity to experience the joy that safe, car-free streets create. Participants had the chance to explore the longest route ever with 4.4 mile loop traveling through Homewood, Larimer, East Liberty, Shadyside, and North Point Breeze.

OpenStreetsPGH offers a unique opportunity for Pittsburghers to rediscover streets as places for people not just cars. Car-free streets offer so much to our neighborhoods, from a place where parents can safety teach their children how to bike for the first time, to a more pleasant experience for eating and drinking at local restaurants and cafes, and a place to spend time with family and friends, and meet your neighbors. OpenStreetsPGH has become a new Pittsburgh tradition and we hope to see you at our fifth season in 2019!
